Capital Repertory Theatre's On-the-Go! Fall School Tour features a 60-minute
adaptation of William Shakespeare's A Midsummer Night's Dream. Directed by
Education Coordinator Laura W. Andruski, the cast features Liam Calvin
Bobersky, Hillary Parker, Stephen Pelletier, Brenny Rabine, and Kevin Craig
West portraying multiple roles. The school tour runs from October 12 -29
and concludes with a public performance of A Midsummer Night's Dream on
Saturday, October 30 at 11:00 a.m. at Capital Repertory Theatre. Tickets
are $10 for students and $15 for adults. Reservations may be made by
calling (518) 445-7469.

One of Shakespeare's most popular and oft-performed plays, A Midsummer
Night's Dream is a lighthearted romantic comedy that blurs the line between
fantasy and reality. In an Athenian forest, forbidden lovers, quarrelling
fairies and a group of slow-witted laborers all become the foils of the
mischievous imp Puck and his magical love potion. Before the night's over,
a laborer is given the head of a donkey, the fairy queen falls in love with
him, and the humans' love triangle becomes a giant knot. But by morning,
everyone is blessed with a happy ending, and the lovers marry. Huzzah!

Capital Rep is also pleased to announce that our Education Department has
partnered with the Albany Symphony Orchestra to collaborate on the concert
of "A Midsummer Night's Dream" by Felix Mendelssohn, uniquely illustrated
onstage with chorus and actors.

Mendelssohn burst on the musical scene at age 16 with the most perfect
musical depiction of Shakespeare's world, his Overture to "A Midsummer
Night's Dream." Now, experience Mendelssohn's complete music for the play,
featuring women's chorus, vocal soloists and actors in a unique blending of
scenes from Shakespeare's play with Mendelssohn's exquisite music. The
concert begins with three new works inspired by the writings of William
Shakespeare. Two concerts will be held in the Capital Region: October 21
at 7:30 p.m. at Skidmore College in Saratoga Springs and October 22 at 7:30
p.m. at the Troy Music Hall. A special Sunday Symphony concert for children
and their families will be held on Sunday, October 24 at 3:00 p.m. at the
Palace Theatre in Albany. For tickets, please call the Palace Theatre Box
Office at (518) 465-4663.
