SPRING STAGE: CAMP COMBAT
Shakespeare is about the words, right up until someone draws a sword…
>From prat falls to swordfights, a simple push to an intricate battle, students will learn safe, repeatable techniques of physical comedy and drama. All instruction is approached with an emphasis on safety and technique, emphasizing the importance of acting as the primary tool with which to create the illusion.
Stage combat instruction teaches skills of collaboration, control, rehearsal technique, partnering, goal setting, presentation and evaluation. Students will receive daily instruction in hand-to-hand combat, sword fighting, acting the fight and physical comedy and will have the opportunity to integrate techniques into scenes which will culminate in a performance at the end of the week.

The Theatre Institute at Sage (TIS) is a new initiative, under the umbrella of the Russell Sage College Creative and Performing Arts Department, dedicated to providing arts-in-education programming to capitol area teachers, students and families.
