**Among the numerous activities performed by Jonathan Newell, the gifted
pianist who brings his band to the Bridge Theater at the Armory Saturday,
July 7 at 7:30 p.m, is the fact that he has spear-headed the purchase of a
building in Hudson Falls, 30 miles south of Whitehall, and is working as
producer, artistic director and musical director of the various musicans
who perform at the Hudson River Music Hall.
In addition, he is a gifted pianist who teaches locally and in New York and
also plays guitar and sings with the band that plays more than 150 dates a
year throughout a region that includes the Adirondacks, Vermont and the
Berkshires as well as private parties from New York City to Boston, Buffalo
to Bar Harbor.
His sidemen who include Adam York on saxophone; Randy McGeoch, bassist; Tim
Sawicki, percussion; Jeff Ellis, drums, Rob Newell, keyboards and Jennifer
Newell, vocals, are all well-known musicians in their own right.
All have worked with many other bands and groups and are known for their
ability to teacher as well as entertain.
Much of their experience extends back to the 1970s when they were finishing
their college experience and learning as well as working with bands, small
groups and as soloists.
The Jonathan Newell Band marks the ability of a brilliant
leader being able to gather around him excellent musicians who
together make music that has enthralled audiences of every type.
The Bridge Theater is pleased to present Jonathan Newell
and his band as the inaugural presentation of its summer cabaret
season at the Whitehall Armory.
