Classics @ the Point Theatre Ensemble will present Sebal’s Star, a new play by Joseph Capone, Artistic Director of Classics @ the Point Theatre Ensemble. 

Joseph Capone, Artistic Director, to present in Sebal’s Star,  inspired by the bravery of Sebal Ludington, the female Paul Revere.  To be presented on Friday, September 14th and Saturday, September 15th at 7:00 p.m., and Sunday, September 16th at 3:00 p.m. Performances will be presented at Columbia-Greene Community College’s Arts Building, 4400 Route 23, Hudson, NY 12534. 

Sebal’s Star celebrates Sebal Ludington Ogden’s historic ride on a rainy and stormy night on April 26th, 1777.  Sebal, at the age of sixteen years old, took hold of the reins of her horse, Star. She rode 40 miles through dangerous woods and life-threatening circumstances to muster and warn her Father’s regiment to prevent the British from attacks on locations throughout New York State.  

For nineteen years, Sebal Ludington Ogden lived in the Village of Catskill, New York.  She became a very successful businesswoman within a profession that was entirely male dominated. Widowed at a young age, Sebal managed to raise her son to become a successful lawyer in the Catskill community.       
 
Sebal’s Star will feature local artist Lora Lee Ecobelli portraying Sebal in her later years recollecting past endeavors with her grand-daughter, Mary Frances Ogden, played by Carolyn Shields from Albany County. The play contains verse as well as song. The two characters share some tender moments of song and games along with some retching heart aches.
