Theater Voices will present the final staged reading presentation of its
twenty-fifth season celebration, a new production of its inaugural show,
THE LITTLE FOXES by Lillian Hellman, directed by David Baecker.
Performances will take place at Steamer No. 10 Theatre, 500 Western Avenue
(corner of West Lawrence), Albany, NY on Friday May 17 at 8:00pm; Saturday
May 18 at 3:00pm and 8:00pm and Sunday May 19 at 3:00pm. House opens half
hour before curtain.

Hellman’s 1939 drama, which originally starred Tallulah
Bankhead, portrays the Hubbard family—exemplified by the glamorous but
ruthless Regina—and their attempts to become wealthy, even at one another’s
expense. The script reflects the playwright’s longstanding concern with the
corrosive effect of power and money on individual lives, as well as her
dissatisfaction with the American capitalist system. Hellman’s other
celebrated works include *The Children’s Hour, Watch on the Rhine, *and *Toys
in the Attic*, all of which explore the conflict between self-interest and
moral responsibility.

The original Theater Voices production of *The Little
Foxes*was presented in March of 1989, directed by the late Jarka
Burian. David
Baecker, who is an Associate Professor of Theatre at Russell Sage College,
will direct this new staging. His local directing projects include a staged
reading of *The Trial of Bat Shea*; *Humble Boy *and* Full Gallop* for
Theater Voices; *A Christmas Carol* and a staged reading of *Silence in a
Circular Rainbow* for NYSTI.

Patrick McKenna - Horace

Jim Kambrich - Mr. Marshall
