for the month of February, the African-American Cultural Center of the
Capital Region presents films
of pivotal moments of our history.

*Saturday, February 23rd at the Arbor Hill/West Hill Library, 148 Henry
Johnson Blvd. Albany*

Black is....Black Ain't (1994)

The film tells the story that the African experience comes in as many
varieties and voices as the imagination allows, and that African Americans,
instead of reaching for the narrowness of a single identity, should
celebrate their diversity. It intermixes poetry and dance with analysis by
leading voices in culture, race, education and media.

Special Guest Speaker: Dr. Alice Green
Executive Director, The Center for Law and Justice

*Saturday, March 2nd at the Pine Hills Library, 517 Western Avenue,
Albany, NY 12209*

Dark Passages (1995)

Employes a mixture of interviews, slave narratives, and dramatization.
Tells the story of the impact of the Atlantic slave trade. Takes the viewer
from the House of Slaves on Goree Island off the coast of Dakar, Senegal,
to the village of Juffere on the Gambia River.
