Children and families of all ages are invited to Opera Saratoga's Opera to Go production of Pinocchio at the Schenectady Civic Playhouse, 12 So. Church Street, Schenectady, on Saturday, March 2, at 2:30 p.m. 

 

           Pinocchio, a short 45-minute opera for young audiences of all ages, is free of charge and open to the public.  The performance is underwritten by Schenectady Civic Players' Gwen Fraser Memorial Fund to give back to the community and excite young people on the magic of the arts. 

  

Based on the familiar classic story by Carlo Collodi, Opera Saratoga's Opera to Go production presents the heartwarming story of Pinocchio told in an operatic style.  Featured are arias, duets, ensembles and choruses by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, Jacques Offenbach, Gaetano Donizetti, Giovanni Battista Pergolesi, Sir Arthur Sullivan and Gioachino Rossini.  Words and story adaptation are by John Davies

 

Pinocchio features a talented cast of young professionals chosen from hundreds of singers who auditioned for Opera Saratoga's Young Artist Program.  Singing Pinocchio will be mezzo-soprano Lila Powell-Khazoum.  Playing multiple roles are tenor Kyle Berkley, baritone Chad Somers, and soprano Sara Duchovnay, accompanied by musical director Lori Milbier.
