The 39 Steps Opens at HMT!

 

Home Made Theater continues their 28th season with THE 39 STEPS, adapted by
Patrick Barlow from the work of John Buchan and Alfred Hitchcock. The show
runs weekends February 8th through February 24th at the Spa Little Theater
in the Saratoga Spa State Park. 

Mix a Hitchcock masterpiece with a juicy spy novel, add a dash of Monty
Python and you have a fast-paced whodunit for anyone who loves the magic of
theater! This two-time Tony and Drama Desk Award-winning treat is packed
with nonstop laughs, over 150 zany characters, an on-stage plane crash,
handcuffs, missing fingers and some good old-fashioned romance! A riotous
blend of virtuoso performances and wildly inventive stagecraft, THE 39 STEPS
amounts to an unforgettable evening of pure pleasure!

The director of THE 39 STEPS is Dianne O’Neill Filer who has directed and
costumed numerous shows around the world including HMT’s AND THEN THERE WERE
NONE last season.  She has an MFA in Theater from Sarah Lawrence College and
served on the Board of Cameo Theater and The Acting Company of Greenwich for
many years.  Dianne taught drama at Brunswick School and Greenwich Academy
for 20 years and most recently taught art and drama at the Doan Stuart
School in Albany.  

The cast of THE 39 STEPS includes Conrad Browne Lörcher as Richard Hannay,
Alan Edstrom as Clown 1, Ben Katagiri as Clown 2, and Molly McGrath as
Annabella/Pamela/Margaret.  The artistic team for THE 39 STEPS includes
scenic designer Mary Fran Hughes, lighting designer Kyle VanSandt, costume
designer Sherry Recinella, sound designer KC Conway, properties designer
Jane Parisi and assistant director Barry Streifert.

Performances are Fridays and Saturdays, February 8, 9, 15, 16, 22, and 23 at
8:00pm. Matinees are Sundays, February 17 and 24 at 2:00pm.  An optional
dinner or brunch package is available at the Gideon Putnam for an additional
$24 per person plus tax and gratuity.  Dinner is available prior to the
evening performances and brunch is available prior to the Sunday
performances.  Ticket prices are $23 and $26. For reservations or further
