THE GHENT PLAYHOUSE ANNOUNCES SCHEDULE FOR 2013-2014 SEASON

The Ghent Playhouse’s Artistic Director, Cathy Lee-Visscher, is pleased to announce its upcoming 2013-2014 theatre season, which includes two new-to-Ghent directors, Jason LaSusa and Joe Phillips and welcomes back Roseann Cane, Tom Detwiler and Sky Vogel.

Other People’s Money by Jerry Sterner – Directed by Roseann Cane

In this dramatic comedy, a corporate raider threatens a hostile takeover of a “mom and pop” utilities company. When the head of the company enlists the help of his wife’s daughter, an attorney, to try to protect the company, the raider enjoys the thrust and parry of legal maneuvering, as he tries to win her heart.

Opens October 11 and runs through October 27, 2013 (This date is correct).

The Annual Panto written by Judy Staber and the Pantoloons – Directed by Tom Detwiler

The Pantoloons return with their usual brand of mayhem, music and merriment, this time merging the fairytales Sleeping Beauty and The Frog Prince.

Opens November 29 and runs through December 15, 2013

My Cousin Rachel by Daphne du Maurier adapted for the stage by Diana Morgan.

Directed by Jason LaSusa

When his beloved cousin dies unexpectedly, Philip Ashley is convinced that his cousin’s new wife, Rachel, murdered him. But when she visits his home in Cornwall, Philip can’t help but fall in love with her himself, despite his suspicions. A romantic-mystery on a par with Rebecca.

Opens January 24 and runs through February 9, 2014

How the Other Half Loves by Alan Ayckbourn – Directed by Sky Vogel

This modern-day English comedy follows the misunderstandings caused by a couple having an affair who use an innocent third party to cover their tracks.

Opens March 21 and runs through April 6, 2014

The Grapes of Wrath by Frank Galati, based on the classic novel by John Steinbeck.

Directed by Joe Phillips

Released from an Oklahoma state prison after serving four years for a manslaughter conviction, Tom Joad makes his way back to his family’s farm in Oklahoma and then begins a journey with them to California in search of work and a new life. This is the award-winning Steppenwolf Theatre production of the novel that opened in Chicago, went on to Broadway in 1999 and won the Tony Award for Best Play that season.

Opens May 23 and runs through June 8, 2014

Performances follow the regular schedule of Fridays and Saturdays at 8:00 p.m. and Sundays at 2:00 p.m. The Ghent Playhouse is a fully accessible theater.
