racism that permeated the South
during the closing months of World War II. At a segregated camp in
Louisiana, an angry, unpopular Black Sergeant is murdered. His regiment
blames the Klan, the establishment blames the platoon. It is not until the
first African American officer comes on the scene to unlock the secrets
lurking under the surface.


Winner of the 1982 Pulitzer Prize for Drama, adapted into the 1984 Award
winning film A Soldier’s Story starring Denzel Washington.
