*/THE REVIEWERS LOVED "THE LIAR"/**/  /*

*/ONLY 5 MORE PERFORMANCES!DON'T MISS IT!/*

*/"To be a successful liar requires an agile mind, and The Schenectady
Civic Players production of "The Liar" is both nimble and deft. Using
the 2010 adaptation of the 1644 comedy of Pierre Corneille by David
Ives, director Joseph Fava kept the action going, as lies and their
ensuing confusion accelerated until the head-spinning ending. . .
./**/For a tongue-twisting and fast-paced evening of comedy, "The Liar"
is a success."/**-- Mary Jane Leach/-- TIMES-UNION 10/19/14/*

*/". . . . Dear Joe, such a novel,
Cheerful way to start the Playhouse season
Provides theatergoers with a reason
To see this play. So merci et au revoir, Monsieur Fava.
Sincerely, P. Lamar" /**(Excerpted from review written entirely in "The
Liar's" verse style**/) /**Paul Lamar/- THE SUNDAY GAZETTE 10/19/14 /*

one of the Western world's greatest comedies

By David Ives (adapted from the classic comedy by Pierre Corneille)
**THE LIAR
Directed by Joseph Fava

**/FINAL WEEK: October 22 thru 26/
**/(WEDNESDAY & THURSDAY at 7:30 pm; FRIDAY & SATURDAY at 8 pm; SUNDAY
matinee at 2:30 pm)/**

The location is Paris, 1643. Dorante, a charming young man new in the
capital, who has but a single flaw; he cannot tell the truth. He meets
Cliton, a manservant who cannot tell a lie, and falls in love with
Clarice, who he mistakes for her friend Lucrece. Our hero does not know
that Clarice is secretly engaged to his best friend Alcippe. Nor is he
aware that his father is trying to get him married to Clarice, whom he
thinks is Lucrece, who actually is in love with him.
 From all these misunderstandings springs one of the Western world's
greatest comedies, a sparkling urban romance as fresh as the day Pierre
Corneille wrote it, brilliantly adapted for today by All in the Timing's
David Ives.

The cast features Tom Templeton (as Dorante), Robert L Hegeman (as
Geronte), Mark Stephens (Cliton), Jennifer Van Iderstyne (Clarice),
Stephanie G. Insogna (Lucrece), Robin MacDuffie (Alcippe), Jeffrey Scott
(Philiste), and Cristine M. Loffredo (Isabelle/Sabine).
