SPOOKY OOKY POOKY: FUN FOR THOSE AWKWARD AGES
Friday Night Mopco Show might be just the thing for the older kids

The admission price is cheap: $14 general, $6 students. Tickets can be purchased at Proctors.org in advance, or at the box office before the show.

Hey—it’s better than throwing toilet paper into the trees, right?

Halloween has become a holiday for little kids and adults, but too often the kids in between, say 11-18 or so, are left out of the fun. Too old for little kid parties, too young for a night of adult costumed fun, the tween/teen population is sometimes forgotten. Mopco has an answer for parents and kids looking for a suitably scary, fun, but safe activity for this Friday night.

Spooky Ooky Pooky 5 is the fifth annual Mopco Halloween show Underground at Proctors. The show always features the “accidental” invocation, a la “Beetlejuice,” of Spooky, Ooky, and Pooky, the three ghosts that haunt Proctors. What happens next is anyone’s guess: like all Mopco shows, this one is entirely improvised. This year’s Spooky Ooky Pooky show is the first time the show has been performed on Halloween itself, and this has the members of the company trembling in anticipation. Beyond that, things may get scary, though the company insists that the event is safe for all ages. There will be candy, and Mopco encourages audience members to dress in costume.

Safety aside, some of the more skittish company members are a little jumpy. “If it weren’t Mopco, I wouldn’t go down there on Halloween,” said Peter Delocis, a Mopco stalwart. “Especially since it might make me look puffy.”
