THE COMPLETE HISTORY OF AMERICA (ABRIDGED) Opens at HMT!

 

Home Made Theater continues their 30th season with Adam Long, Reed Martin &
Austin Tichenor's comedy The Complete History of America (Abridged). The
show runs weekends February 13th through March 1st at the Spa Little Theater
in the Saratoga Spa State Park. 

The Complete History of America (Abridged) is a roller coaster ride through
the glorious quagmire that is American History. Called "new vaudeville,"
it's classic slapstick - irreverent, corny and clever. It pokes fun at just
about every turn in our nation's founding and comes up a winner. The
Electoral College, conspiracy theories, assassinations and more come under
fire in this fast-paced, brutal take on American history. In the tradition
of abridged shows, it uses a lot of vaudeville and circus humor: giant silly
props, goofy wigs and bad musical numbers! It's a fast, funny and physical
performance with a flair for current events. From Washington to Watergate,
yea verily from the Bering Straits to Baghdad, from New World to New World
Order - these 600 years of history in 6,000 seconds remind us that it's not
the length of your history that matters - it's what you've done with it!
History will never be the same!

The director of The Complete History of America (Abridged) is Aaron
Holbritter, who is making his HMT directorial debut. Previous HMT on stage
credits include Enchanted April (Mellersh) and Deathtrap (Sydney). Recent
directorial credits include All My Sons, (Top Ten play of 2014 - The
Saratogian), The Farnsworth Invention and The Shape of Things at Albany
Civic Theater, as well as Sherlock Holmes: The Final Adventure at
Schenectady Civic Players. Aaron has appeared on stage at ACT, SCP, Curtain
Call Theater, Hubbard Hall, The Theater Barn and Lake George Dinner Theater.
Aaron is the producer of the long running capital region holiday tradition
Melodies of Christmas and is the Production Coordinator for Nacre Dance. In
addition, Aaron is a founding member of Creative License, a theater
collective focused on lesser known works currently based out of the Albany
Barn.

The cast of The Complete History of America (Abridged) includes Ashley L.
Evenson, Jonathan Hefter and Evan Jones, each taking on multiple roles
throughout the show. The artistic team includes scenic designer Kevin
Miller, lighting designer Kyle Van Sandt, costume designer Samantha Garwood,
sound designer Aaron Holbritter and properties designers Mary Fran Hughes
and Steve Moulton.

Performances are Fridays and Saturdays, February 13, 14, 20, 21, 27, and 28
at 8:00pm. Matinees are Sundays, February 22 and March 1 at 2:00pm.  An
optional dinner or brunch package is available at The Gideon Putnam Resort
for an additional $25 per person plus tax and gratuity.  Dinner is available
prior to the evening performances and brunch is available prior to the
Sunday performances. Ticket prices are $27 and $24. Tickets can be purchased
online at the HMT web site, www.homemadetheater.org , in person during box
