AT SCHENECTADY CIVIC PLAYERS

SCHENECTADY – Becky’s New Car, a humorous and nimble farce by Steven Dietz, and directed by Melissa Mason Lacijan, opens Friday, May 8, and runs through Sunday, May 17, at Schenectady Civic Players’ 12 South Church Street playhouse in Schenectady’s historic Stockade district.

Becky’s New Car focuses on Becky Foster caught in middle age, middle management, and in a middling marriage—with no prospects for change on the horizon. Then one night a socially inept and grief-struck millionaire stumbles into the car dealership where Becky works. Becky is offered nothing short of a new life…and the audience is offered a chance to ride shotgun in a way that most plays wouldn’t dare. BECKY’S NEW CAR is a thoroughly original comedy with serious overtones, a devious and delightful romp down the road not taken.

The seven-character cast features Emir Geraghty (as Becky Foster), Alexander Benson (as Chris Foster), Robin MacDuffie (as Joe Foster), Richard Michael Roe (as Steve), Steve King (as Walter Flood), Kathryn Starczewski (as Kensington Flood), and Robin Shrager Suitor (as Ginger). 

Becky’s New Car plays Friday, Saturday and Sunday (May 8, 9, 10), and Wednesday through Sunday (May 13 through 17). Wednesday and Thursday curtains are at 7:30 pm; Fridays and Saturdays at 8 pm; and Sundays are matinees only at 2:30 pm.
