The Reviews Are In:
Schenectady Civic Players "Dracula a Bloody Good Show!"

“Schenectady Civic’s visually stunning production of the Bram Stoker story, adapted by Steven Dietz, and directed by Jeffrey Scott . . . a totally spooky world with strobe lights, fog machines and pyrotechnics, one into which we’re plunged from the start. . . . Spotlights. Dim lighting. Plumes of red mist . . . . Just as the cinema has benefited from digital enhancement techniques, so, too, does this hoary story benefit from these wondrous special effects. SCP’s “Dracula” is a technical tour de force.” -- Paul Lamar/For The Daily Gazette October 17, 2015

FINAL WEEK -- Just in time for the Halloween season, Steven Dietz’s Dracula, directed by Jeffrey Scott, re-opens Wednesday, October 21. and runs through Sunday, October 25 at Schenectady Civic Players’ 12 South Church Street playhouse in Schenectady’s historic Stockade district.

Playwright Dietz’s new adaptation, first published in 1996, restores the suspense and seduction of Bram Stoker’s classic novel. As Count Dracula begins to exert his will upon the residents of London, they try to piece together the clues of his appearances – in a valiant attempt to save themselves from a hideous fate. Rich with both humor and horror, the play paints a wickedly theatrical picture of Stokers' famous vampire.
