            *        Theater Voices *will present its first staged reading
production of the 2015-2016 Season: *Outside Mullingar* by John Patrick
Stanley directed by Yvonne Perry.


            Performances of *OUTSIDE MULLINGAR *will be held at Steamer No.
10 Theatre, 500 Western Avenue, Albany on Friday October 16 at 8:00 pm;
Saturday October 17 at 3:00 pm and 8:00 pm: and Sunday October 18 at 3:00
pm. The house opens half hour before curtain. Admission is free.



         John Patrick Shanley’s play was the recipient of the 2014 Tony
Nomination for Best Play. The New York Times called *OUTSIDE MULLINGAR* “Mr.
Shanley’s finest work since *DOUBT*… A softhearted comedy freckled with
dark reflections on the unsatisfactory nature of life and the thorns of
love.”



            The play focuses on the relationship between Anthony and
Rosemary, two introverted misfits straddling 40. Anthony has spent his
entire life on a cattle farm in rural Ireland, a way of life that—due to
his painful shyness—suits him well. Rosemary lives right next door, and has
watched the years slip away, determined to one day have him. With Anthony’s
father threatening to disinherit him and a land feud simmering between the
two families, Rosemary has every reason to fear romantic catastrophe. But
then, in this very Irish story with a surprising depth of poetic passion,
these yearning, eccentric souls fight their way towards solid ground and
some kind of happiness. Their journey is heart wrenching, amusing, and
ultimately moving - a compassionate and delightful work about how it’s
never too late to take a chance on love.



            Director Yvonne Perry is well known to theatre audiences in the
Capital District where she has acted and directed in many regional theatre
productions. Included in the cast are Patrick Quinn, Pat Reilly, David
Gerard and Kathleen Carey.
