On Sunday, January 31, Town Players of Pittsfield presents an afternoon of readings starting at 2pm at the Whitney Center for the Arts, 42 Wendell Avenue, Pittsfield.

Richard Matturro, an instructor at OLLI and retired English professor at UAlbany, will read "Iphigenia" from his collection "Porch of the Maidens". "Iphigenia" is the story of a man who gains what he most desires, but loses what he most loves.

Following "Iphigenia", will be two short staged readings, "Hearing Aid" by Pete Barry and "Senior Moments" by Frederick Stroppel, directed by Denise Roller.

"Hearing Aid" is a short reading about the woes and joys of a nearly deaf elderly married couple whose communication troubles lead to implausible comic misunderstandings. The cast includes Bess Tinkham and Joe Gerard.

In "Senior Moments" an elderly couple are at a Confirmation reception trying to enjoy themselves when all hell breaks loose! A funny, sad, yet moving piece about life. The cast includes Nancy Hammell, Peter Podol and Meghan Rogers.

Admission is $5.00. One of these readings contains adult language that may not be suitable for children.
