CALENDAR GIRLS Opens at HMT!

 

Home Made Theater closes their 31st season with Tim Firth’s heartwarming
comedy Calendar Girls. The show runs weekends April 15th through May 1st at
the Spa Little Theater in the Saratoga Spa State Park. 

Based on a true story, Calendar Girls tells the tale of best friends Annie
and Chris, who resolve to raise money for their local hospital by persuading
four fellow members of their women’s club to pose nude with them for an
“alternative” calendar. The news of the women’s charitable venture spreads
like wildfire, and hordes of press soon descend on the small village of
Knapeley in the Yorkshire Dales. The calendar is a success, but Chris and
Annie’s friendship is put to the test under the strain of their new-found
fame. Contains tasteful partial nudity.

The director of Calendar Girls is Dianne O’Neill Filer who has directed and
costumed numerous shows around the world including HMT’s A Chorus Line, The
Man Who Came to Dinner, The Jungle Book, Witness for the Prosecution, And
Then There Were None and The 39 Steps.  She has an MFA in Theater from Sarah
Lawrence College and served on the Board of Cameo Theater and The Acting
Company of Greenwich for many years.  Dianne taught drama at Brunswick
School and Greenwich Academy for 20 years and most recently taught art and
drama at the Doane Stuart School in Albany.  

The cast of Calendar Girls includes Anne-Marie Baker as Ruth, Devra
Cohen-Tigör as Annie, Joan Meyer as Chris, Terri Storti as Jessie, Janice
Walz as Celia, and Camille West as Cora. Rounding out the ensemble are Susan
Dantz, Mary Ellen Dowling, Robin Leary, David Mann, Griffin McPherson,
Nicole Mecca, Dennis Skiba and Mark Todaro.

The artistic team for the production includes scenic designer Kevin Miller,
lighting designer Jaime Martinez-Rivera, costume designer Linda Bertrand,
sound designer Perrin Jones and properties designer Mary Fran Hughes.

Performances are Fridays and Saturdays, April 15, 16, 22, 23, 29 and 30 at
8:00pm. Matinees are Sundays, April 24 and May 1 at 2:00pm. An optional
dinner package is available prior to the evening performances and following
Sunday matinees at Pennell’s Restaurant for an additional $24 per person
plus tax and gratuity. Ticket prices are $27 and $24. Tickets can be
purchased online at the HMT web site, www.homemadetheater.org , in person
