Ladies and Gentlemen, for one night only, come witness an exciting throwback show–a step back in time to the days of Vaudeville! Behold strange sideshow sights scarcely seen in decades! Ventriloquism! Comedy! Baudy burlesque for boys and girls! After touring the country, The Schadenfreude Circus has returned home to bring back one of America’s most entertaining traditions. They have raised tents in some of the last traveling carnivals in the world, amazed at Ripley’s Believe it or Not, and wowed crowds mere blocks from the White House….and now they want to bring it back to where it all started: Glens Falls. Before the days of television and computers, Americans were entertained by variety shows that offered some of the greatest lost forms of entertainment. The birth of stand-up comedy and “improv” took place on stages alongside crazy ventriloquism, daring sideshow acts, and an age-old performance art that is making a huge comeback—burlesque! The Glens Follies will celebrate the restoration of those shows. Assembling a stable of the most talented variety performers from all over NY, it will feature amazing acts that has not been seen regionally for generations. The popularity of these Vaudevillian shows is growing all over the world, and The Glens Follies will be the inception of this artistic culture locally.
