The 39 Steps opens this Friday, October 7, at the Ghent Playhouse

The 42nd Season of the Ghent Playhouse begins with *THE 39 STEPS**. *Adapted
for the stage by Patrick Barlow, this fast paced melodrama is based on the
novel by John Buchan and the 1935 movie by Alfred Hitchcock. The
production is being directed by Deena Pewtherer. *The 39 Steps* opens on
Friday, October 7 and runs through Sunday, October 23 with performances
Fridays and Saturdays at 8 p.m. and Sunday afternoons at 2 p.m.

Mix a Hitchcock masterpiece with a juicy spy novel, add a dash of Monty
Python and you have *The 39 Steps*, a fast-paced whodunit for anyone who
loves the magic of theater! A man with a boring life meets a mysterious
woman with a thick accent who tells him she is a spy. When he takes her
home, she is murdered. Soon, a mysterious organization called “The 39
Steps” is hot on the man’s trail in a nationwide manhunt that climaxes in a
death-defying finale! This two-time Tony and Drama Desk Award-winning
treat is packed with non-stop laughs, an on-stage plane crash, handcuffs,
missing fingers, good old-fashioned romance and over 150 zany characters,
played by a cast of four. *The 39 Steps* provides an unforgettable evening
of pure pleasure.

The cast includes returnees to the Ghent Playhouse stage: Kevin Kilb of
Ghent from last Season’s *The Imaginary Invalid* & Meaghan Rogers of
Pittsfield from last Season’s *Boeing, Boeing* along with new comers Brian
Wagner of Philmont & Christopher Gilbert of Redhook. Costumes are by Joanne
Mauer, Lighting Design by Isabel Filkins & Sound Design by Mark “Monk”
Schane-Lydon. Kelly Mackerer is producing this production and Arielle Lant
is the Assistant Director and Stage Manager.

Be sure to reserve your tickets early, especially for the Sunday matinees,
while there are still seats available!

Tickets are $20 each, $17 for Friends of the Playhouse and $10 for Students
with ID. Tickets may be reserved by calling 1-800-838-3006 or going to the
