[Capdist-announce] Artists Take Action, Troy Night Out

Artists Take Action, a group of local artists of all disciplines presents a sampler of artistic responses to our political times as part of August's Troy Night Out, Friday, August 24 in the Black Box Theater at the Arts Center of the Capital Region, 265 River Street, Troy.  Interactive art project begins at 6:00; performance begins at 7:00.  Suggested donation of $5.00.

Shortly after the 2016 presidential election, local artists of various disciplines joined together at Creative Action Unlimited to develop artistic responses to policy changes that were affecting social justice. The Artists Take Action Sampler is an evening of short performance pieces, including drama, music, object-theater and poetry. Following the performance, audience members are invited to stay for a facilitated exploration of audience perspectives. An opportunity for the audience to share their thoughts, insights and perspectives, the Creative Action Playback Theater Company will be on hand to translate responses into theater, in the moment.

Contributing artists include:  Laura Brignull, Andrea Cunliffe, Krysta Dennis, Justin DuPont, Pete Furlong, Michael Kennedy, Bonnie Logan, Linda McKenney, Aaron Moore, Susan Preiss, Stephanie Weber-Remmert, Maghen Ryan, Melissa Sarris, Josy Smith, John Stevenson and others.

From 6 - 7 pm, in the Arts Center lobby, you are invited to create your own unique “identity” design to block print on a bag - perfect for holding all of the materials you've collected during Troy Night Out. With special assistance from Roarke Center Artists.
