WITTENBERG -- a Free Staged Reading Now
Sunday, February 19, at Schenectady Civic Playhouse

SCHENECTADY – “Wittenberg,” by David Davalos, and directed by Amy Lane, will now be presented as a free staged reading Sunday, February 19, at 2:30 p.m. at the Schenectady Civic Playhouse, 12 So. Church Street, in Schenectady’s historic Stockade district. (The originally planned February 12 performance was cancelled because of weather.) One performance only, it is part of a series celebrating Schenectady Civic Players’ 89th season.

“Wittenberg”, set in October 1517 in northern Germany at the beginning of another fall semester at the University of Wittenberg, a comedy that reveals the story behind the stories of Hamlet, Doctor Faustus and the Protestant Reformation, is "…a crackling good bit of entertainment…bursts with a Stoppardian eagerness to tickle as it tangles with weightier issues…Hilarity, thy name is WITTENBERG." —NY Times.

Civic Players and Capital area actors featured in this Wittenberg production are Jason Biszick (as John Faustus), Randy McConnach (as Martin Luther), Samuel Lawkins (as Hamlet), and Jean Carney (as Eternal Feminine).

Free admission. Open seating. No advance reservations. www.civicplayers.org 382-2081.
