[Capdist-announce] Simple Gifts in Concert comes to SLCA Sept 24

Sand Lake Center for the Arts is pleased to bring you this very special
concert with the duo - Simple Gifts, on Sunday, Sept 24 at 1pm. Simple Gifts
combines tradition with innovation and thereby cre-ates some of the finest
in folk music today. Linda Littleton and Karen Hirshon switch with ease
among fiddle, mandolin, banjo, recorders, bowed psaltery, hammered dulcimer,
baritone fiddle, guitar, and percussion, and deliver their music with a rare
inten-sity and contagious enthusiasm. Lively Irish jigs, down-home American
reels, hard-driving Klezmer freilachs, and haunting Gypsy melodies spice the
mix with the distinctive rhythms of Bal-kan dance music, the lush sounds of
Scandinavian twin fiddling, and original compositions. .   Tickets $18.
