The musical theatre writing team of Ed Munger and Herb Weisburgh will be the visiting authors at The Writers Circle’s Author Luncheon, Friday, June 15 at the Gloversville Senior Center, 53 Church St.

Munger and Weisburgh are the authors of the new musical “Love in Firenze,” which had its world premiere April 26-29 at Proctors Theatre, Schenectady.

They will discuss their work from 11 a.m. until noon when a light luncheon (pizza, tossed salad, fruit, and homemade dessert) will be served. The event is open to the public. $5 payable at door. Reservations appreciated. Call Ellie Discoscia at 518-725-0923.

“Love in Firenze” got is start as a musical staged reading at Colonial Little Theatre in April 2009, under the title “September Deception.”

The lighthearted musical set in the 1980s tells the story of an American family vacationing in Firenze (Florence), Italy, who each finds their own romance in the city ¬— with some surprises along the way.

At the play’s heart is an Italian opera singer and her two romantic rivals, one from the American family, the other from Firenze, vying for her affection.
There are plenty of laughs, singing and dancing, twists and turns, along with beautiful, romantic lasting ballads as the characters try to sort out a love triangle and a case of mistaken identity.
