	 “THE BABYLON LINE” OPENS JANUARY 25 

	 AT SCHENECTADY CIVIC PLAYERS  

	 SCHENECTADY – The third play of Schenectady Civic Players’ 91st
Season, _THE BABYLON LINE, _by Richard Greenberg and directed by Chris
Foster, opens Friday, January 25, and plays through Sunday, February
3, 2019 at its 12 South Church Street Playhouse in Schenectady’s
historic Stockade district. 

	 An electrifying new play by Tony Award-winning playwright Richard
Greenberg, _The Babylon Line_ opened at NYC’s Lincoln Center Theater
on December 5, 2016. 

	 It’s 1967. Aaron Port, a 38-year-old writer from Greenwich Village
commutes to Levittown, Long Island, to teach an adult-education
creative writing class. In this straight-laced community he finds
anything but the cookie-cutter lives he expected. As his students
discover the power storytelling has to transform their lives, one
special student reawakens him to  

	his own artistic impulses. This class may bring them something that
neither quite expects.

	 NYTheater.com called it “original, brash, and bursting with
theatrical energy. The charming characters and the author’s
occasional pokes at tradition make this play a very good gift.”
“… a quiet, funny script … a remarkable ride.” (Entertainment
Week)

	 The seven-person cast features Knathan McKenzie-Roy (as Aaron Port),
Cori Irwin (as Joan), Cristine Loffredo (as Frieda), Melissa
Putterman-Hoffmann (as Anna), Debra Bercier (as Midge), Joe Bruton (as
Jack), and Ryan Gillotti (as Marc). 

	_THE BABYLON LINE _runs Friday, Saturday, and Sunday (January 25, 26,
27) and 30 through February 3, 2019. Friday and Saturday curtains are
at 8 pm. Wednesday and Thursday curtains are at 7:30 pm., and Sundays
are matinees only at 2:30 pm.
