CLASSIC THEATER GUILD PRESENTS
*CAT ON A HOT TIN ROOF*

Classic Theater Guild is launching its 2019-2020 season with the Tennessee
Williams classic, “Cat on a Hot Tin Roof” at Proctors Fenimore Gallery
beginning on June 20th.

“We can’t wait to bring this story to life!”, says CTG Board Member and Cat
on a Hot Tin Roof director, Peggi Perrone. While many people associate this
title with the film starring Elizabeth Taylor and Paul Newman, this story
was first presented as a play on Broadway in 1955, and has been performed
all over the world since then. Perrone adds, “ The stage version of Cat on
a Hot Tin Roof restores the true colors to the characters of Tennessee
Williams’ script in a way that the heavily censored and glamorized
Hollywood film of 1958 wasn’t allowed.”

Classic Theater Guild’s talented and veteran cast will bring to life some
strong and memorable characters. Maggie and Brick, along with other family
members, gather at a Mississippi Delta plantation to celebrate Big Daddy’s
65th birthday. Drama, death, and deception and are all explored in this
emotional piece.

Classic Theater Guild was established in 2004, and draws its cast, crew,
and Board members from Albany, Schenectady, Troy and surrounding towns.
CTG President, Steve Suriano says, “Starting with Cat on a Hot Tin Roof, we
have a tremendous lineup planned for this season. We take on serious drama
with Diary of Anne Frank in November, bring in the holiday cheer with a
traditional Christmas musical, and add some comedies and mysteries, as
well.”

Performances of Cat on a Hot Tin Roof will be held on June 20th at 7:30PM,
June 21st at 7:30, June 22nd at 2PM and 7:30PM, with the final performance
on June 23rd at 2PM. Tickets are $20, or $18 for Seniors, students, or
military. Tickets may be purchased through the Proctors website at
tickets.proctors.org/TheatreManager/95/login?event=12290. The Fenimore
Gallery is located inside of Proctors, on the 2nd floor.
