*FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE*

*BLACK THEATRE TROUPE OF UPSTATE NY TO PRESENT REGIONAL PREMIERE OF
BARBECUE BY ROBERT O’HARA *

The Black Theatre Troupe of Upstate NY is proud to kick off their 2021-22
Season with an outdoor production and Regional Premiere of *BARBECUE* by
Robert O’Hara co-directed by David Girard and Jean-Remy Monnay.
*BARBECUE *centers
around the O’Mallery’s, a dysfunctional family who have gathered in their
local park to share some barbecue and straight talk with their sister
Barbara, whose spiral of drugs and recklessness has forced her siblings to
stage an open-air intervention. But the event becomes raucous and
unpredictable as familial stereotypes collide with hard realities, and
racial politics slam up against the stories we tell—and maybe even
believe—about who we were and who we've become.

*BARBECUE* will take place at outdoors at the *Stephen and Harriet Myers
Residence (at 194 Livingston Ave, Albany, NY 12210) *with performances on
August 20-22 and 27-29 at 6pm. Tickets are $20 general, and $15 for
students and seniors. To purchase tickets, you may visit BTTUNY’s website
at this direct link: www.blacktheatretroupeupstateny.org/season/barbecue.

and several other local companies with *8:46*, a theatrical response to the
tragic murder of George Floyd and the series of murders and assaults of
black Americans over the past weeks, years and decades. The cast also
features former actor Monet Thompson who most recently starred in BTTUNY’s
2020 production of *The Niceties*.

BTTUNY is also proud to welcome local actress Benita Zahn into the cast of
