COPAKE, NY --The Two Of Us Productions, the award winning theater company
based in Columbia County NY, is pleased to present I AM A CAMERA by John Van
Druten on Saturday evening February 13th, 2021, a Virtual On-Line staged
reading starting at 7:00 pm.

I AM A CAMERA is a 1951 Broadway play by John Van Druten, adapted from
Christopher Isherwood's book The Berlin Stories. The title is a quote taken
from the novel's first page: "I am a camera with its shutter open, quite
passive, recording, not thinking." Berlin Stories and I Am A Camera are the
basis for the musical drama Cabaret, which The Two Of Us Productions is
presenting in Fall 2021!

Simply put, I AM A CAMERA is about an English writer living in Berlin before
the rise of the Hitler regime. If we look more closely this play is a
thought provoking look at life in a 1930's Berlin rooming house with a
photographic eye.

Chris Isherwood is a struggling young writer whose novel, "I Am A Camera",
concerns the events occurring around him in the Berlin of 1930. Sally
Bowles, a singer/actress who works in a nightclub, befriends Chris. Despite
Sally's transient & bohemian existence her platonic relationship with Chris
remains steady. Chris comes to Sally's assistance when she decides to have
an abortion, he remains sympathetic and loyal to her no matter how
outrageously Sally behaves. In the heady atmosphere of 1930 Berlin Chris
gets swept up in Sally's carefree existence. A parallel plot involves an
innocent romance between Natalia Landauer & Fritz Wendel. We have a front
row seat as their story unfolds & the civilized Germany they know slowly
dissolves in front of their eyes!

To learn the rest of the story you'll have to RSVP to us at
