Follow award-winning choreographer and performer Dana Michel as she unravels the orderly world of mechanical labor in MIKE.

EMPAC at Rensselaer invites Capital District Theater audiences to MIKE by Dana Michel, Friday, October 4 at 6PM and Saturday, October 5 at 2PM. Presented in EMPAC Studio 1—Goodman Theater and the center’s public spaces, on the campus of Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in Troy, NY.

Accompanied by an inventory of office items, which appear sculptural and act as performance collaborators, experimental choreographer Dana Michel embarks on a 3-hour trajectory through the center’s public spaces subject to interruption and absurd redirection.

Both playful and serious, MIKE deals with work culture and self-respect, asking: “is it possible to live public lives that reflect our inner selves?”

ABOUT THE ARTIST
Toronto-based choreographer Dana Michel is recognized for her innovative and risk-taking performances, with awards including Silver Lion for Innovation in Dance, Venice Biennale.

ABOUT THE PERFORMANCE
Duration: 3 hours
While encouraged to enjoy the performance from start to finish, ticketholders enter and exit its trajectory at leisure.

The Decommission series from curator Katherine C.M. Adams entreats audiences of choreography, film, and sculpture to join us at EMPAC on the campus of Rensselaer in Troy for three programs that play against technology’s entanglement with social architecture.
