"*reclaiming”*: A One-Night-Only Evening of Dance, Embodied Story, and
Spoken Word
Saturday, June 21 at 7:30pm
Bridge Street Theatre | 44 W Bridge Street | Catskill, NY
Bridge Street Theatre is proud to present reclaiming — an evening of bold,
embodied storytelling through dance, curated by local movement artist
Francesca Avani and featuring a powerhouse ensemble of dancers from across
the country.
Now in its eighth year of partnership with Bridge Street Theatre, Bridge
Street Dance returns with a transformative one-night-only performance
exploring themes of trauma, healing, identity, and wholeness. This year’s
show, reclaiming, brings together a dynamic roster of artists working in
styles ranging from fusion belly dance to waving. Each performer offers
deeply personal interpretations of the show’s central theme — reclaiming
agency, voice, and self through movement.
“‘reclaiming’ means taking back ownership of the self — from trauma,
patterns of survival, and old identities — by choosing how to move forward
with intention, agency, and self-trust,” says curator Francesca Avani.
Among this year’s lineup is a special return appearance by Jesse Sykes, a
Las Vegas-based dancer known for his work with Cirque du Soleil and other
world-class productions. Jesse brings his signature emotional depth and
technical mastery to the stage in a rare Hudson Valley performance.
Poetry and spoken word are interwoven throughout the evening, adding depth
and resonance to the show’s exploration of grief, resistance, and
transformation. Rather than simply showcasing dance, reclaiming offers a
communal space to reflect, feel, and perhaps even heal — together.
Tickets are $30 and can be reserved now at bridgest.org/bsd25.
Bridge Street Theatre is located at 44 W Bridge Street, Catskill, NY.
