  Circle Theatre Players

   Auditions
Sunday, Sept. 12 and Monday, Sept. 13
 at 7:00PM for
   City Girls
at Sand Lake Center for the Arts,
  2880 NY 43, Averill Park

Take this rare opportunity to be part of a founding
cast. City Girls, an original musical created by
Circle Theatre Players’ very own playwright and
songwriter, Diane M. Doring will be performed the
first two weekends of December, 2004
Directed by Cheryl Hurd and
Music Director Diane M. Doring

Roles for the cast of 12 are as follows:

Four late 20’s to early 30’s males – two singing, two
non-singing
Three 20 something females – all singing
 One 20 something female – non-singing
One couple in their 40’ or 50’s – both singing
One older couple in their 60’ or 70’s – non-singing

Please bring 16 bars of music if auditioning for
singing roles

Who They Are:

Justin (singing) – late twenties. The "sensible"
sister – pretty but plain; intelligent and
professional; kind, wise, well-bred, reserved.

Robin (singing) – early twenties – must have "star"
quality – physically attractive with a great voice.
She is the passionate sister – witty, outspoken, and
impetuous – all her emotions are on the surface.

Marcus (singing) – late 40s to early 50s. Strong,
conservative, successful; devoted to his wife and
daughters but torn between them.

Patrice (singing) – late 40s to early 50s – haughty,
pretentious, and self-absorbed. Obnoxious but not
really a bad person.

Stuart (non-singing except chorus numbers – lip
syncing acceptable) – a "great guy" – very
intelligent, unpretentious, even-tempered with dry
wit.

Jack (singing doesn't have to be great, just willing)
– late twenties. A lawyer and the villain of the
piece. Handsome, superficially charming, but
self-absorbed and amoral, determined to get what he
wants (or thinks he wants) at all costs.

Desmond (singing) – early thirties. A gentleman.
Hard-working, successful, on the serious side. Very
sincere.

Serena (singing doesn't have to be great) – twenties.
Outrageous and overtly sexy. Described in song as
"empty-headed, shallow, vain, self-centered, silly,
childish, pushy, and rude." Get the picture? Role
requires a strong character actress who is not afraid
of going "over the top."

The Pattersons (non-singing) – 60s-70s. A kind older
couple. Naïve to the many changes in the world since
their own distant youth. Particularly naïve
concerning their niece, Serena.

Terry (non-singing) – 20s. Small part. A musician.
Off-beat. Think black leather and facial hair. Not
the guy you want your daughter to marry.

Allison (non-singing) – late 20s. A cameo-type role
with a few lines. Should be a sophisticated "model"
type – attractive with presence.
