The creative team responsible for a recent Broadway
flop (in which three chorus girls were murdered by the
mysterious "Stage Door Slasher") assembles for a
backer's audition of their new show at the Westchester
estate of a wealthy "angel." The house is replete with
sliding panels, secret passageways and a German maid
who is apparently four different people - all of which
figure diabolically in the comic mayhem that follows
when the infamous "Slasher" makes his appearance and
strikes again - and again. As the composer, lyricist,
actors, and director prepare for their performance,
and a blizzard cuts off any possible retreat, bodies
start to drop in plain sight, knives spring out of
nowhere, masked figures drag their victims behind
swiveling bookcases, and accusing fingers point in all
directions. However, and with no thanks to the
bumbling police inspector who snowshoes in to
investigate, the mystery is solve in the nick of time
and the "Slasher" unmasked - but not before the
audience has been treated to a sidesplitting good time
and a generous serving of the author's biting,
satiric, and refreshingly irreverent wit.

HELSA WENZEL – Trusted maid at the Grossenknueten
residence. Known to have multiple identical siblings,
and has recently shown an unusual change in behavior.
True identity is uncertain.

ELSA VON GROSSENKNUETEN – Wealthy backer of “White
House Merry-Go-Round”. Her mansion has many secret
tunnels, built by her father, a paranoid former spy.
She did not inherit her father’s intelligence.

MICHAEL KELLY – New York City policeman. He is
undercover at the Grossenkneuten residence, trying to
uncover the identity of the Stage Door Slasher.
Disguised as Miss Grossenknueten’s employee.

PATRICK O'REILLY – Auditioning for “White House
Merry-Go-Round”. Typical Irish tenor actor. Easily
identified by horrible accent, frequently replaces o’s
with i’s. True identity is uncertain.

KEN DE LA MAIZE - Former director of “Manhattan
Holiday” and current director of “White House
Merry-Go-Round”. In between has become a famous
director of Hollywood "B" pictures. A diva.

NIKKI CRADALL – Auditioning for “White House
Merry-Go-Round”. Aspiring actress/dancer hoping for a
break by participating in the preview. True identity
is uncertain.

EDDIE MCCUEN – Auditioning for “White House
Merry-Go-Round”. Standup comic, aspiring actor,
perpetually makes bad jokes. Has uncanny ability to
almost always be in the right place at the wrong time.

MARJORIE BAVERSTOCK – Former producer of “Manhattan
Holiday” and current producer of “White House
Merry-Go-Round”. Known to be well-dressed and
slightly eccentric. Frequently makes use of
nonsensical words like "divoon".

ROGER HOPEWELL - Former composer of “Manhattan
Holiday” and current composer of “White House
Merry-Go-Round”. He is known for being incredibly
optimistic, despite dangerous circumstances. Good
friend of Bernice Roth.

BERNICE ROTH - Former lyricist of “Manhattan Holiday”
and current lyricist of “White House Merry-Go-Round”.
Is very cowardly, and drinks to alleviate the terror
of reality. She is known to faint constantly.

The RPI Players is a student run community theatre.
