[Theater Voices]

Theater Voices will hold auditions for a staged reading of The  
Retreat From Moscow, by William Nicholson, directed by Marna  
Lawrence. Auditions will be based on readings from scripts.

Location
Steamer No. 10 Theatre, 500 Western Avenue, Albany - corner of West  
Lawrence Street.

Times
Sunday, April 23rd – 3-5 p.m.
Thursday, April 27th – 7-9 p.m.

Cast Breakdown – Three roles; casting two.

Ed – High school teacher, late 50’s. Intellectual, private, detached.
Jamie – the son, early 30’s. Observant, vulnerable, compassionate.

Synopsis:

Alice is editing an anthology of poetry, while her husband, Edward, a  
history teacher, has become obsessed with a book about Napoleon’s  
disastrous retreat from Moscow in 1812. After 33 years of marriage,  
they are breaking up. They have a grown son who lives in London; non- 
judgmental, intelligent and articulate, he finds himself in the  
painful position of go-between and confidante to both parents.
