Circle Theatre Players Auditions for Steel Magnolias

Auditions for Steel Magnolias by Robert Harling will be on
Sunday, November 12th at 3:00 p.m. and on Monday, November 13th at 7:00 pm. (with call backs on Thursday, November 16th at 7:00 p.m.).
Auditions will take place at the Sand Lake Center for the Arts, 2880 Rt. 43 in Averill Park.
Steel Magnolias has great parts for all ages of women. It revolves around the lives and friendships of six women who go to Truvy's hair salon--not just to get their hair done, but to share jokes, gossip, recipes and confidences.
The six women include:
Truvy (in her 40's) who projects a sense of humor and also a talent of empathetic listening;
Annelle (18-20), Truvy's assistant, who moves from being a frightened abused wife to an arts and crafts fanatic to a born again Christian;
Shelby (early 20's) who is full of exuberance and joy in living;
M'Lynn, Shelby's mother, who loves her family deeply but who also values self-control and discipline in all areas of life, even her hair;
Ouiser (60's) who is a wealthy curmudgeon...ascerbic but loveable...and a bit eccentric;
Clairee (60's), a "grande dame" and a recent widow of the former mayor who is looking for a way to regain her life as a single woman.

There will be a read through in early December-but rehearsals don't begin until January 2nd.
The play takes place in a beauty salon, but people do not need to have their hair cut-or know how to do hair.

Contact the co-directors, Val Kavanaugh (674-2426) and Sue Frost (674-3149).
