CONFETTI STAGE ANNOUNCES AUDITIONS FOR THE TWILIGHT OF THE GOLDS
Albany, NY, April 9, 2007 – Confetti Stage, Inc will hold auditions for its upcoming production of Jonathan Tolin’s The Twilight of the Golds, which will be directed by Neilson Jones. Auditions will be held Monday, April 23, 2007 @ 7:00pm and Tuesday, April 24, 2007 @ 7:00pm at The Women’s Building, 79 Central Avenue, Albany, NY. Rehearsals for this production will begin on Wednesday, May 2, 2007. Production dates are June 14 -24, 2007. The production will take place at The Arts Center of the Capital Region’s Joseph Bruno Theater located at 265 River Street in Troy, NY. This production is intended for mature audiences.
Synopsis: What if your parents knew everything about you before you were born? Would you be here today? Science and opera serve as backdrops for a confused and broken family searching to answer those very questions. Prenatal genetic testing reveals the child-to-be of Suzanne and Rob Stein most likely will not meet their expectations. The entire Gold family is thrust into considering issues of bigotry, moral values, evolution, and the strength of family ties.
Roles are available for 3 men and 2 women. The character breakdown is as follows:
David Gold – late twenties. Charming, sensitive, gay, aspiring theatrical set designer.
Suzanne Gold-Stein – early thirties, David’s sister. Bright, attractive. Feels as if she never lived up to her own potential. Works as a buyer for Bloomingdale’s department store.
Rob Stein – early thirties, Suzanne’s husband. A genetic researcher. A handsome, decent fellow. Still feels like an outsider in his wife’s family.
Phyllis Gold – fifties, David and Suzanne’s mother. An elegant woman, smarter than she sometimes lets on. Perpetually worried about her children.
Walter Gold – fifties, David and Suzanne’s father. A sometimes gruff New York businessman. Far more sensitive than he often appears.
Those auditioning will be asked to perform a one to two minute dramatic monologue and read from the script.
