*RPI Players to hold auditions for /City of Angels/*

Troy, NY – January 3, 2007 — The RPI Players are holding auditions for
their scheduled spring musical, /City of Angels/, on Tuesday, January
23rd from 7-10 PM and Wednesday, January 24^th from 7-10 PM. Both nights
of auditions are located in the RPI Playhouse, across from the RPI
Student Union (on the corner of 15th St. and Sage Ave. in Troy).
Callbacks, if needed, will be Thursday, January 25^th in the RPI
Playhouse. Interested parties are asked to prepare one verse of a solo
part of a Broadway show tune in their vocal range and bring sheet music,
as an accompanist will be provided.

/City of Angels/ will be directed by Deborah May, and the show dates for
/City of Angels/ are April 20, 21, 26, 27, 28 at 8pm and April 22 at
2pm. Performances will be held in the RPI Playhouse on 15^th Street.

/City of Angels/ takes place glamorous 1940s Hollywood. While trying to
maintain his artistic integrity and marriage, a detective novelist,
Stine, is attempting to write a screenplay based on his books for
fast-talking Hollywood producer, Buddy Fidler. As he creates the story
about a private detective, Stone, the characters of Stine's imagination
come to life on stage. Beautiful socialite Alaura Kingsley hires Stone
to find her missing stepdaughter. The stepdaughter ends up showing up
naked in Stone's bed. Soon, Stone is beat up by a bunch of hoodlums
hired to get him off the Kingsley case. In the end, though, Stine
confronts his sell-out, alter ego Stone and the manipulative Buddy and
quits the project. After regaining his dignity, he is able to regain the
love of his wife and all ends well.

The RPI Players is a student run community theatre. While RPI students
are the primary participants in the organization, auditions and
production roles are open to all community members.
