CONFETTI STAGE ANNOUNCES AUDITIONS FOR THE 3RD ANNUAL SHORT PLAY FESTIVAL
Albany, NY, JULY 18, 2007 – Confetti Stage, Inc will hold acting auditions
for its 3rd annual Short Play Festival on Sunday, July 29, 2007 @ 7pm &
Tuesday, July 31, 2007 @ 7pm at 79 Central Avenue, Albany, NY.
The festival will play for the following two nights: Thursday, September 20,
2007 and Friday, September 21, 2007. The production will take place at The
Linda WAMC’s Performing Arts Studio, located at 339 Central Avenue in Albany,
NY.
The 3rd Annual Short Play Festival features six different plays performed
over two nights. All six plays were written by Capital Region playwrights.
There are 15 different roles available for men and women, as well as roles for
one boy and one girl. (both ages 12 to 15).
Plays included in this year’s festival are:
“Shoes”
Written by Sky Vogel
Directed by Jean Foss
Awarded “Best New Play – 1998” by the Playwrights’ Theatre of Denton,
Texas, “Shoes” tells the story of an encounter between two people who are
dealing with their own life difficulties. Jackie is shopping to cope with her
husband, who is not behaving as one. Dave has returned to the same store to
indulge his regret over a failure to commit to a woman he met there years earlier.
Together, thy explore what it means to be part of a pair.

Jackie late 20s to late 30s an English and Drama

Clerk 20s a shoe salesman
“Something Borrowed”
Written by Daniel Carmody
Directed by Valerie Portanova
One hour before her wedding, Theresa discovers that her Mother has promised
her Father, who left the family over a decade earlier, that he would give her
away. The family attempts to pick up the pieces of their broken
relationships, while scurrying to find something new, blue, old, and borrowed for the
bride.

“Mr. Brightside”
Written by Chaz Heritage
Cast chosen from the audience and directed by Neilson Jones
This 5-minute piece is sure be talked about after the festival. A lesson in
when you should keep your mistakes to yourself.

“Wednesday” –staged reading
Written by Mark Staufenberg
Directed by Jeffrey P. Hocking
Marie lived a quiet life, free of any real choices or tough decisions.
After her untimely death she continued the trend, and was deposited in Limbo.
Faced with an eternity of the same monotony and repetition that colored her
life, Marie must finally decide with the help of friends both mundane and
fantastic, if it's worth risking hell to reach heaven.

“Playing God”
Written by David Korn
Directed by Kate Hans
Every wonder what happens after you pass through those pearly gates of
heaven? You get to play God in the game of your choice. Of course, God always
wins. Find out the answers to all of those pesky little questions like, “Why is
the Sky Blue?”
Characters:

Man any age inquisitive and out of time
“All the Marbles”
Written by Steve Henel
Directed by Neilson Jones
Deciding the fate of the world should be this fun. Deciding the fate of the
world should not be such a hard thing to do. You will be amazed at how much
fun and how difficult it is the save the world when your memories are held
hostage by a playful angel and a mischievous demon.

Child #1 12-15 little angel
Child #2 12-15 straight from H*%L
THOSE AUDITIONING WILL BE ASKED TO READ FROM A PROVIDED SCRIPT. ALL ACTORS
WHO HAVE AN AUDITION MONOLOGUE PREPARED ARE ENCOURAGED TO TELL US.
MONOLOGUES ARE NOT REQUIRED.
