Auditions for:
Over the River and Through the Woods
By Joe DiPietro
Presented by Hilltowns Players
Produced by Maryellen Hamilton and Penny Shaw
Directed by Frank Meredith
Six performances throughout Albany County during the 1st three weekends in
June
Nick is a single, Italian-American guy from New Jersey. His
parents retired and moved to Florida. He sees both sets of grandparents
every Sunday for dinner. This is routine until he has to tell them he has
been offered a dream job - in Seattle. The news doesn't sit so well.
His grandparents wonder how Nick could betray his family's love and move
across the country for some job. Perhaps an interesting, attractive young
lady might keep him in Hoboken? They invite Caitlin O'Hare to their next
Sunday dinner.
"A hilariously funny comedy that is even funnier than his long-running
musical revue, I Love You, You're Perfect, Now Change." - Back Stage
"Loaded with laughs every step of the way." - Star-Ledger
This is a rare opportunity: major roles for four senior actors.
Roles: Nick Cristano, early 30's, after 29 years of Sunday dinners with his
grandparents, he must announce
he is moving to Seattle.
Frank Gianelli, 70's, tengo familia ("I have a family") is his
credo. Plays a bit of mandolin.
Aida Gianelli, 70's, the answer to every situation is food. "An
Einstein in the kitchen."
Nunzio Cristano, 70's, has cancer, but struggles with telling
Nick about it.
Emma Cristano, 70's, wants to see Nick married before she dies.
Caitlin O'Hare, late 20's, Irish, single, attractive, charming.
Will she be able to keep Nick in Hoboken?
Note: the four grandparents are first generation Italian-Americans who
learned English in North Jersey. Appropriate traces of accents are
preferred, but not necessary. Age-appropriate actors preferred, but not
necessary. Caitlin is in two scenes, the other five characters are on stage
for most of the play.
