Seeking actors for a June 2007 production of ‘The Exonerated’ to be
performed at The Hilton Arts Center in Albany, New York. The winner of the 2003
Drama Desk and Outer Critics Circle Awards, ‘The Exonerated’, by Jessica Blank
and Erik Jensen, is culled from interviews, letters, transcripts, case files
and the public record. It chronicles the true stories of six wrongly
convicted survivors of death row in their own words. Moving between first-person
monologues and scenes set in courtrooms and prisons, the six interwoven stories
paint a picture of an American criminal justice system gone horribly wrong,
and of six brave souls who persevered to survive it.
“The #1 play of the year (2003)…intense and deeply affecting…” -The
New York Times
“Riveting. Simple, honest storytelling that demands reflection”
-Associated Press
“Artful and moving…pays tribute to the resilience of human hearts and minds.
” -Variety
“Stark… riveting… cunningly orchestrated.” - The New Yorker
