Auditions

Omelette: Chef of Denmark

by Charlie Lovett

Monday, June 4 from 5:30 - 7:30pm

Tuesday, June 5 from 6:30 - 8:30pm

Performances will be

September 7 & 8 at 7:30pm

September 9 at 2:30pm

These auditions are open to students from Rensselaer County who will be in
7th through 12th grades in the fall. Students should prepare a joke or
short, funny story for the audition, as well as bringing your schedules for
August and early September (any conflict dates). "Omelette, Chef of Denmark"
has elements of Macbeth, Hamlet, the Marx Brothers, and perhaps an episode
of the Muppet Show. The story involves a contest between the Danes and the
Scots to determine the location of Shakespeare's next play. There are 29
roles, including Shakespeare, his wife, Macbeth, the Marx Brothers, a game
show host, a body guard, and more, many of which can be played by male or
female actors. Rehearsals will be held on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday
nights in August (and one week in September), as well as two or three
Saturdays, with performances the weekend after Labor Day (no rehearsals
Labor Day weekend).

Parent and adult volunteers and technical staff (sound, lights, set
construction, costumes, stage manager, make up, and a producer and/or
assistant producer who is familiar with SLCA and the Circle Theatre Players)
will be needed for many backstage areas, as well as for chaperones for
rehearsals. Students are welcome for technical areas, especially
experienced high school techies, and should stop by the audition to sign up.
A coach for a Scottish accent is also needed. Please contact the director as
soon as possible if you would like to volunteer.

Our Kids for Kids mission will be to produce entertaining comedy for the
audience, provide a learning and teamwork experience for the cast and crew,
and have much fun (kids and adults)!
