Auditions for The Trip to Bountiful by Pulitzer-Prize winner, Horton Foote
will take place on Tuesday, January 6 and Thursday, January 8 at 7:00 p.m.
at the Playhouse, 12 S. Church St., Schenectady, NY 12305.
The Trip to Bountiful tells a simple, tender story about an elderly,
displaced woman and her longing to return to her childhood home. The plot revolves
around Carrie Watts, an aging widow living with her son and controlling
daughter-in-law in a two-room flat in Houston, Texas. Mrs. Watts dreams of
breaking out from under the rigid supervision of her daughter-in-law and returning
to the simpler freedom of her old home in Bountiful. She succeeds in running
away, reaching the Harrison bus station, which she has been told is the
closest place to Bountiful. There she meets up with a sheriff whom her son and
daughter-in-law put on her trail. The sheriff helps her complete the final stage
of her journey to Bountiful.

circumstances to live with her son and her daughter-in-law in a cramped 2 room
