Confetti Stage will hold AUDITIONS for its 4th Annual Short Play Festival on:
Monday, June 23 @ 7:00pm &

This year?s FESTIVAL has roles available for 40 men and women
throughout EIGHT SHORT PLAYS (listed below).
Those auditioning will be asked to read various sides from one or more
of the EIGHT SHORT PLAYS in this year?s festival. Actors are
encouraged to bring their headshots and resumes if they have them.
WHO SHOULD AUDITION?:
- ANYONE who has ever had a desire to perform on stage
- Students & those looking to expand their theatrical experience
- ANYONE looking for the opportunity to GROW as an actor, performer,
or artist
- ANYONE with an open-minded approach to a collaborative & educational
rehearsal and creation process
WHAT CAN YOU EXPECT?:
- A supportive administrative and artistic group as part of your team
- A relatively short rehearsal period
- A wonderful performance venue in a fabulous historic building in
Albany?s Downtown District
- World premiere plays written by Albany Area Playwrights
- Constructive input by experienced theater professionals
- Knowledge that you are taking part in the only truly LOCAL Short
Play Festival in the Capital City.
- An opportunity for two of the short plays to be sponsored by
Confetti Stage at other regional, state, or national Play Festivals.
REHEARSALS are scheduled to begin July 27.
Confetti Stage was founded to explore the human experience while
illuminating the myriad diversities that define us as groups and
individuals. Confetti Stage promotes diversity and understanding
through the creation of dynamic and inspirational productions and
educational opportunities. We strive to maintain the highest possible
level of artistic standards while fostering collaboration and mutual
respect.

1. A Terminal Case by John Luther / Director: John Schmiederer
Glen, a morning radio joke writer, finds out he has 37 years left to
live. Slightly overreacting to the news, he tries to resolve things
with an old flame, who thinks he's crazy, and her new love; hilarity
ensues. He also encounters a seventy-something Jewish woman who
really does understand the meaning of death.

Anna Duffy (30s) Glen?s estranged wife
Dean (40s) Anna?s boyfriend
2. Married Life by Fred Sahner / Director: Jeffrey P. Hocking
Ellen and Frank have just finished their third date, and Ellen informs
Frank of her ?three bad dates and your out? policy. Frank, oblivious
to the ?bad? parts of each date, convinces Ellen to roleplay their
future with him to see if a lifetime together would actually be so bad.

3. Heresy by Marty Egan / Director: Daniel Kelly
A new actor says ?MacBeth? on opening night and everything begins to
go wrong before the curtain even rises. His fellow actors are ready
to draw and quarter him, but he refuses to perform the ceremony to
remove the curse until the bitter end. This is well after it?s too
late. (We all know these characters?some of us are them, ha ha!)

4. My Fortune and Fame by Daniel Carmody / Director: Peter Keller
Thanksgiving takes an unexpected turn when a recently widowed father
breaks the news to his kids that he?s seeing someone new, and she is
making the turkey.
Cast:
Michael (50s/60s) Irish immigrant who speaks with a brogue
Julia (30s) Working class woman, motherly touch
Nina (20s/30s) Go getter ? single, professional
Johnny (20s) Still trying to find himself
5. Train of Thought by Katherine Ambrosio / Director: Valerie Portanova
Arlene is a no-nonsense professional businesswoman. One day, while
riding home on the commuter train from NYC, she meets an interesting
travel partner who through much insanity and loudness makes Arlene
realize that life is so much more than business.
Cast:
Arlene (30s/40s) Uptight, self-centered, estranged from herself
Lillian (60s-80s) Sweet, scattered but has it all together
Conductor Salty but kind

6. Marge and Melvin by Katherine Ambrosio / Director: Tracy Blowers
Marge and Melvin have been working together at the same diner for
years without complication. Tonight however, fate and the electric
toaster intervene to bring about their true emotions. Hilarious!
Staged reading at Art on Lark, Saturday at 4pm.

7. Live and Unrehearsed by Phil Sheehan / Director: Rita Carver
Harry is a late-night talk show host who?s putting on his final show.
He does not realize that it is his final show, however, until the show
is well underway. Armed with this knowledge, Harry takes on a much
more racy approach to the show?s content.

Stan Lupinski (30s-50s) frustrated writer on a rotten book tour
Selene Damita (20s) touring actress, sexy but not sultry
8. Bella Sera by Serge Patentreger / Director: Anna Groper
A seemingly innocent blind date turns into an evening of deceit and
havoc. Bad weather, too much drinking, and a case of mistaken
identity all contribute to a disastrous evening for all involved.
