Open Male Role for Play w/ Rock Music BATTLES OF THE BAND - Proctors New
Play Festival

We are still searching for ONE role for Kevin Dobies’ BATTLES OF THE BAND
to receive its world premiere as part of the Proctors New Play Festival @
440 Upstairs in Schenectady. Directed by Jonathan Whitton.

ABOUT THE PLAY: A garage band tries to break into the most competitive
business in the world: show business. Rob Cantwell is the lead
guitarist/vocalist for Ace Bandage, a local rock band desperate to break
onto the national scene. As the story begins, Rob meets his dream girl,
loses his job, and learns of an upcoming battle of the bands, which could
just be his ticket to success.

RICH (early 20s - early/mid 30s) - energetic, young, preppy. One of Rob’s
arch-rivals. “Mainstream” Top-40 musicality. Naïve to the music scene,
but still maintains a twinge of arrogance. Comes from a family with
money. Plays music to “get girls” and it works. NSYNC/Backstreet Boys
adoring girls are his “groupies.” Manipulative. Vocal/Style prototypes:
Jason Mraz, Matchbox 20, Justin Timberlake. PREFERABLY, SLIGHT OF
BUILD/SMALL FRAME. Must be able to sing/front a rock band without
reservation. Ability to play guitar a plus, but not necessary. NON-EQUITY
ONLY.

Rehearsals begin Monday, March 17. Show previews Upstairs @ 440 on
Thursday, April 10; Opens Friday, April 11. The rehearsal schedule will
vary daily. 3 shows/per week (running in rep with 2 other productions).
Weekly salary.

For more information or to schedule an appointment, contact director
Jonathan Whitton at jon at jonwhitton.com. Please attach headshot/resume to
email. This is a fast, furious rehearsal schedule working with some very
talented NYC based actors, production team, and local hires.
