THEATER VOICES will hold auditions for a staged reading of “LATER LIFE”,
by A. R. Gurney, directed by Ed. Lange.

Location
     Steamer No. 10 Theatre, 500 Western Avenue, Albany - corner of  
West Lawrence Street.

Times
     Sunday December 7, 5-7pm
     Monday December 8, 7-9pm

Needed: At least two men and two women.

Auditionees are asked to bring a monologue to read of no longer than  
two minutes in length. In addition, scenes from the script of LATER  
LIFE will be read.

Please note: all actors will need to appear at least forty years of  
age or older. The cast will require at least two men and two women. A  
Boston accent will not be used.


Synopsis: 1993. An upscale party on the terrace of a high-rise  
apartment building overlooking Boston Harbor.

CHARACTERS: (all characters are early middle-age or older)
Austin: handsome, banker, divorced, proper, polite, reserved, life- 
long Bostonian
Ruth:  lovely, arty, youthful, free-spirited, married four times
Sally:  well-to-do hostess, Ruth’s friend, a matchmaker
Jim: an existentialist defrocked professor, trying to quit smoking, gay
Marion:  gray-haired, matronly but feisty Bostonian, married to Roy
Roy: an ex-marathoner who wants to move to Florida for his arthritis  
and golf
Duane:  an early computer geek, trying to persuade his wife to upgrade
Nancy:  an insensitive, clench-jawed Long Islander who loves the  
party food
Ted: a transplanted executive from Atlanta with more than a few biases
Esther: Ted’s wife who shares many of Ted’s views
Walt:  Austin’s best friend, who thinks the world of him, and wants  
him to be happy
Judith:  a Boston Symphony musician, friend of Ruth’s and a gossip
Production Dates

February 13-15, 2009 (Fri.-Sun.) at Steamer No. 10 Theatre, Albany.

Rehearsals will begin: on or about January 25.
