AUDITION NOTICE 
Albany Civic Theater will be holding auditions for the second show of the 2008-2009 season, "Keely and Du" by Jane Martin, directed by Katie Weinberg, on Monday, September 15 and Tuesday, September 16, 2008, at 7pm at the theater.
 
Production dates will be November 6-9, 14-16, and 21-23, 2008.
 
Du, a right to life activist, and Keely, a pregnant rape victim she is confining, transcend their circumstances and the ideological issues that separate them. Du is both guard and caretaker, driven by her faith to ensure that Keely’s pregnancy comes to term. The two women develop a touching and unlikely bond. "Keely and Du" is a mind-probing issue play with a gripping human face. Who is accountable? What is the extent of individual freedom? What are a rape victim's rights? Their passionate stories exist on the extreme edge of everyday reality. "Keely and Du" won the American Theatre Critics Association Award for Best New Play of 1993 and was a finalist for the Pulitzer Prize in 1994. 
 
Keely and Du is recommended for mature audiences.
 
Available roles:
Keely - female, age 25-35
Du - female, age 55-65
Walter - male, age 45-60
Cole - male, age 25-40
Female Security Guard - age 35-45
 
Auditions will be readings from the script; sides will be available at auditions for perusal. There is no need to prepare a monologue.
