SCHENECTADY CIVIC PLAYERS ANNOUNCE AUDITIONS

Auditions for A Christmas Carol by Charles Dickens, adapted and
directed by Lloyd Waiwaiole, with
musical direction by Valerie A. Lord, will take place on Tuesday, September
9 and Thursday, September 11 at 7:00 p.m. at the Playhouse, 12 S. Church St.,
 Schenectady, NY 12305.
A Christmas Carol will be staged as "Story Theater". The cast will form an
ensemble that will relate Ebenezer's tale to the audience through
storytelling and music. All cast members, save the actor portraying Scrooge, will play
multiple roles throughout the show. These roles will, of course, include all
the usual and beloved characters from the classic tale. The ghosts that haunt
Scrooge will be a series of fantastic puppets, voiced and manipulated by the
onstage actors.
Those auditioning are asked to prepare a one-minute memorized reading and a
short Victorian Christmas carol (extra points for the more obscure). Roles
are available for 6 men, 5 women and 6 children. Children will be
auditioned at the start of each evening. We are also seeking a fiddle player.
Production dates are December 5-7 and 10-14, 2008. Please direct all
questions to producer Duncan Morrison at 469-2269 or morrisonduncan @yahoo.com.
