Auditions for Albany Civic Theater's second show of
the 2009-2010 season, "Five Women Wearing the Same Dress", by Alan Ball, directed by Katie Weinberg, will be
held Tuesday, September 1 and Wednesday, September 2, 2009 at Albany Civic

"Five Women Wearing the
Same Dress" runs November 6-22, 2009.. 

  

Auditions begin at 7pm both
evenings; there is no need to make an appointment. There is no need to prepare
a monologue; auditions will consist of cold readings from the script. We are
looking for five women, able to play ages 21 - 35, and one man, able to play age
29. 

  

During an ostentatious
wedding reception at a Knoxville ,
 Tennessee , estate, five
reluctant, identically clad bridesmaids hide out in an upstairs bedroom, each
with her own reason to avoid the proceedings below. As the afternoon wears on,
these five very different women joyously discover a common bond in this
wickedly funny, irreverent and touching celebration of the women's spirit.
“Five Women Wearing the Same Dress” was written by Alan Ball, Academy
Award-winning screenwriter for “American Beauty” and creator of the
award-winning HBO television series “Six Feet Under” and “True Blood”. 

   

Available roles: 

   

Frances (21) - a bridesmaid,
cousin of the bride, ultra-Christian, a little bit spoiled 

  

Meredith (22) - a bridesmaid,
younger sister of the bride, sarcastic, resentful, does not want to be involved
in the wedding at all 

  

Georgeanne (30) - a
bridesmaid, college friend of the bride, a little crazy and emotional, relies
on men for her happiness, unhappy with her own marriage 

  

Trisha (32) - a bridesmaid,
childhood friend of the bride, sophisticated but not snobby, does not want or
need a husband 

  

Mindy (35) - a bridesmaid,
sister of the groom, blunt, comfortable in her own skin, an out lesbian in a
committed relationship with her partner 

  

Tripp (29) - an usher, cousin
of the groom, good looking, smooth talker, gets women pretty easily
