[Capdist-auditions] Curtain Call Theatre "A TUNA CHRISTMAS"

Curtain Call Theatre in Latham will be holding auditions on August
30th,September 12
th, and September 15th for *A Tuna Christmas* directed by Chris Foster.
Production dates are November 26th through December 31st. A Tuna Christmas
is a broad comedy set in the fictional town of Tuna, Texas and is both an
affectionate commentary and withering satire of small town, Southern life
and attitudes.



Auditions will consist of reading sides from the script. *Two actors* are
needed to play 22 eccentric characters of both genders and various ages:



Actor 1 plays:

   - *Arles** Struvie* - A disc

   - *Didi Snavely* - Owner of Didi's Used Weapons ("If we can't kill it,
   it's immortal")
   - *Petey Fisk* - Employee of the Greater Tuna Humane

   - *Jody Bumiller* - Youngest child of Bertha Bumiller
   - *Stanley** Bumiller* – Son of Bertha Bumiller. Aspiring
taxidermist<http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Taxidermist>,
   fresh from reform school <http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Reform_school>;
   twin to Charlene
   - *Charlene Bumiller* - Daughter of Bertha Bumiller and brother to
   Stanley and Jody; infatuated with Joe Bob Lipsey.
   - *Vera Carp* – Wealthy town snob and acting leader of the Smut-Snatchers
   of the New Order ("until the Rev. Spikes gets out of prison")
   - *Dixie** Deberry* - Controller of the Tuna Electric Company
   - *Helen Bedd* - A waitress at the Tasty-Creme
   - *Farley Burkhalter* - A "little person" and a patron of the Tasty-Creme

   - *Garland Poteet*- A soda distributor and one of Inita's many boyfriends

   - *Thurston Wheelis* - A disc

   - *Elmer Watkins* - The victim of a tragic flameshooter incident, Elmer
   was left with no eyebrows.
   - *Bertha Bumiller* - Housewife

   - *Leonard Childers* - Entrepreneur and radio personality on OKKK

   - *Pearl Burras* - Aunt to Bertha, former riveter in
Houston<http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Houston>during World
   War II <http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/World_War_II>
   - *Sheriff Givens* – A stereotypical small town sherrif, fat and
   obnoxious, nicknamed "Rubber Sheets" due to his having wet the bed at church
   camp
   - *Ike Thompson*- a slow-witted highway worker
   - *Inita Goodwin* - A waitress at the Tasty-Creme
   - *Phoebe Burkhalter*- Farley's significant other voiced by Actor 2, but
   onstage is a wig behind a window manipulated by a

   - *Joe Bob Lipsey* - the "not-the-marrying-kind" director of the Tuna
   Little Theater's "troubled production" of A Christmas

The plot of *A Tuna Christmas* centers on the town's annual Christmas Yard
Display Contest, won 14 times in a row by Vera Carp. A mysterious "Christmas
Phantom," known for vandalizing the yard displays, threatens to throw the
contest into turmoil. Among the subplots are Stanley Bumiller's attempts to
end his probation and leave Tuna, Bertha Bumiller's trying to hold her
family together at Christmastime, and Joe Bob Lipsey's struggle to
successfully mount his production of *A Christmas
