Confetti Stage announces auditions for Burt V. Royal’s unauthorized parody, Dog Sees God: Confessions of a Teenage Blockhead, directed by Tim Orcutt.

 The play:
Your favorite characters from Charles M. Schulz Peanuts gang are now in their teens, and dealing with the dramas of high school, adolescence, and their own legitimate flaws and significant neuroses.  When CB's dog dies from rabies, CB begins to question the existence of an afterlife. His best friend is too burnt out to provide any coherent speculation; his sister has gone goth; his ex-girlfriend has recently been institutionalized; and his other friends are too inebriated to give him any sort of solace. But a chance meeting with an artistic kid, the target of this group's bullying offers CB a peace of mind and sets in motion a friendship that will push teen angst to the very limits. Drug use, suicide, eating disorders, teen violence, rebellion and sexual identity collide and careen toward an ending that's both haunting and hopeful.  Can CB make sense of it all? Is there even such a thing a "good" grief?

"Good grief! The Peanuts kids have finally come out of their shells." —Time Out New York.
"Inventive and raunchy…hysterically funny." —NY Post.

The Cast:

Beethoven (male) - thin almost nerdy, shy and insecure about who he is and slightly flamboyant. An extremely talented pianist who faces bullying at the hands of Matt and others, until he resorts to tragic measures to find his peace.  Shares intimate moments with CB.

CB (male) - dealing with the death of his beloved beagle, seeks closure and goes to his friends for support.  Shares intimate moments with Beethoven.

CB's sister (female) - Goth Girl, staunch defender of Beethoven, with whom she shares her dream of a one woman show "Cocoon into Platypus."

Marcy (female) - close friend and gossip buddy of Tricia York.  She is definitely the "smart one" of the two, but not a nerd or prude.

Matt (male) - extremely handsome, confident, and athletic. He uses his talents and gifts to get what he wants and when they don't provide, he resorts to bullying and violence. Appears shirtless in one scene.

Tricia York (female) - close friend and gossip buddy of Marcy.  She considers cafeteria milk a good mixer for vodka, and relies on the appearance of her blossoming body to secure good grades from straight male teachers.

Van (male)  - oversexed pothead, remains CB's closest and most loyal friend. Says things like "Dude... relax".

Van's sister (female) - institutionalized, unapologetic pyromaniac, counsels CB through a personal crisis in one extended scene.
