A hit in New York and London, critics raved about this affectionate send-up of American musical theatre: one story becomes five delightful musicals, each written in the distinctive style of a different master of the art form. The result is a witty and stylish satire, spoofing musical classics from Rodgers and Hammerstein to Stephen Sondheim, and including Kander and Ebb, Jerry Herman and Andrew Lloyd Webber. With its humorous and dead-on spoofs of the best-known musical theatre works of the last 50 years, this magical musical tour of American musical theatre is an entertaining and hilarious evening of fun.

Each musical segment features four players who reprise similar archetypal melodrama roles in each.

a.. The villain, "Jitter" - Male, the landlord figure of each musical who demands the rent be paid or another form of recompense offered.
b.. The hero, "Billy" - Male, the leading man and romantic interest who, in the end, valiantly offers to pay the rent, whether he can or not.
c.. The ingenue, "June" - Female, the leading lady who cannot pay her rent.
d.. The matron, "Abby" - Female, the older woman to whom June turns for advice, always with the words "Thank you Abby, that was so helpful".
